LOOK ON MY WORKS, YE MIGHTY, AND DESPAIR

aycH (pecha kucha) by Brian Ross (via Vimeo)

This is the first video I’ve completed for my “Time Studio” class at Virginia Commonwealth University. It went from idea to product in the pathetically long time of three weeks but I’m proud of the product. It is really the first thing I’ve ever done with video.

The format is supposed to be that of a “pecha kucha.” This format usually has twenty images shown for twenty seconds each but I’ve fudged with the times so that the content is serviced by the format and not vice-versa.

The song is “34 Ghosts I-IV” by Nine Inch Nails. It is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike license and its use in my project renders mine under the same license.

The voices for all four characters and all of the photographs were done by me. One of the photographs is of a drawing created by Elizabeth Knowles who gave me permission for its use in the project. (Hers is the heavily cross-hatched drawing of a mannequin face.) The first displayed image is a frame from a Felix the Cat cartoon. According to the Wikimedia Commons, where I found it, it is in the public domain.

Unfortunately, the video seems to have damaged the aspect ratio. It should be 16:9 but it doesn’t seem to be displayed that way. I’m sorry, aspect ratio fanatics. I empathize with your hatred of this kind of error and apologize.

If you have any questions, please incorporate them into a comment on the Vimeo page. I’ll do my best to answer them.
